It is along the coast and the seaboard, just close to the hotels, residential hotels and campsites that Vieste offers its best.
St. Lawrence sweeping sandy shore stretches seven kilometres towards north-east beyond St. Felix cape; while southbound, where the promontory precipitates down into the sea with a high rocky cliff, the immaculate Castle beach, opens up, gently sloping towards the water.
On the way to the top of the slope the view catches Vieste‘s emblem, the huge “Pizzomunno” cliff, a calcareous rock measuring over twenty metres.
A legend narrates that princess Cristalda, daughter of a marine divinity, fell in love with a fisherman and her parents, not being able to contrast the love story, transformed the young boy into the rock which, in full moon nights, turns human again to meet his loved one.
