Vieste does not only feature hotels, holiday villages and residential hotels but is also rich in buildings of historical-architectural interest.
The town, and the promontory on which it stands, are dominated by the Castle, which was wanted by Frederick II and then fortified by Charles of Anjou. Most of Vieste’s residential area is located between the castle and the small creek contained within St. Felix cape, which stretches towards the rock on which the Lantern tower stands, and St. Francis cape, characterized by the silhouette of the tiny church dedicated to the Saint.
The white houses that make up the ancient centre of Vieste, crossed by winding alleys leading to tiny squares, are dominated by the Cathedral which was built over a Roman temple.
